Global AFRICA:
Expanding Cross-Border
Collaboration with
the Caribbean.
This significant occasion celebrated individuals of African descent worldwide, uniting attendees from diverse backgrounds.
In response to increasing geopolitical pressures, numerous global economies are shifting their trade focus from international to domestic markets, thereby disrupting the global economic order. While this shift presents challenges for some economies, Africa is discovering opportunities amidst adversity with the support of financial institutions like the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
Highlight: Viola Davis and the Creative Industry.
During the event, Viola Davis, star of “The Woman King,” highlighted the importance of Africa’s narrative within the creative industry. A partnership was established through a Memorandum of Intent between Afreximbank, the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), and JVL Media. This collaboration aims to advance publishing and develop Africa’s film value chain, promoting Afro-centric narratives in global cinema through the Creative Africa Nexus Programme.
Objectives and Impact.
The multifaceted initiative seeks to elevate Africa’s creative sector and amplify Black stories on the international stage. The inaugural edition of “Global Africa” magazine highlights Afreximbank’s achievements and reflects the collective strengths and aspirations of the global African community.
Key Information.
ACTIF2024: The third annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2024) is now fully integrated into the Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM). It will feature discussions and negotiations aimed at shaping trade and investment between the Caribbean, Africa, and the wider diaspora under the “Global Africa” platform. The forum will focus on Afri-Caribbean business, trade, and investment issues, including securing investments, exploring business opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship, and discussing the potential for an Afri-Caribbean Free Trade Agreement and other key initiatives.
