@africamonetary The science is clear: Empirical evidence and an overwhelming 99% of scientists unequivocally agree that human-induced greenhouse gas emissions is the primary driver of climate change.
Central to the discourse around fossil fuels are the myriad environmental issues stemming from their use. These issues, exacerbated by their escalating use, involve conditions such as acid rain, oil spills, air pollution, smog, climate change & global warming, coral bleaching, glacial melting, rising sea levels, etc.
The combustion of fossil fuels precipitates the release of enormous amounts of atmospheric pollutants, including nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides, culminating in the increase of acid rain formations.
Acid rain can destroy vegetation, lead to soil and waterway contamination, and have adverse impacts on environmental biodiversity. On a human impact level, air pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels engenders severe health problems, including respiratory ailments and carcinogenic risks.
Another impact to the environment is smog formation. Smog can be a problem in large cities areas, such as in India, and contributes to low visibility and “dirty skies.”
If we look at empirical evidence – economic, environmental, social and human, listen to what scientists have to say, [including the most impacted communities]; the best way to move forward is by keeping fossil fuels in the ground, and accelerating a just transition towards a clean, just ‘community-led’ future for all.

@SUCULTURA Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter is a jaw-dropping ode to Black music, and a recognition of country artists such Linda Martell, Charley Pride and, more recently, Mickey Guyton, Darius Rucker, and Kane Brown, who have been historical excluded from the genre.
Its great @Beyoncé is using her album and platform to shine a light on a part of history, and country music pioneers that many people may not know, including entitling one of the tracks as “The Linda Martell Show,” – a tribute of course to Linda Martell.

Achieving gender-inclusive governance and transformative politics requires a multi-faceted approach that removes cultural barriers to women’s political participation, representation and leadership; challenges oppressive representation, addresses legal, policy, and institutional norms, and envisions more inclusive and equitable cultural landscapes.

A very detailed article on the issues of knife crime @SUCULTURA.
There are concerns regarding Government’s approach to tackling knife crime. It’s clear that serious youth violence, including knife crime, is symptomatic of deeper socio-economic issues that have been exacerbated by years of cuts to public services.
It is mind-boggling to see how the government can merely arrest and sentence their way out of this crisis, while not effectively addressing the underlying issues.
Moreover, the statistics highlighting the disproportionate targeting of young Black men through stop and search are deeply troubling and indicative of systemic biases within law enforcement. Before any extension of stop and search powers is considered, it is imperative that this disproportionality is addressed head-on.
In addition to addressing the imbalance in stop and search practices, there is a pressing need for education and awareness campaigns to inform young people of their rights when stopped and searched. Empowering individuals with this knowledge is essential in ensuring accountability and preventing potential abuses of power.
I would argue that, establishing clear mechanisms for submitting complaints about the conduct of stop and search procedures is crucial in holding law enforcement officers accountable and fostering trust between communities, and the police.
Ultimately, addressing knife crime and serious youth violence requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses the root causes of these issues while simultaneously ensuring fairness, accountability, and respect for the rights of youths who are most affected.
